Amy Moricle

Welcome

Mrs. Amy Skiles-Moricle is a native of Washington County.  She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Child Development and Family Relations from East Carolina University in 1985 and returned to obtain her Master’s degree in Education.  She began her teaching career in Washington County Schools as a kindergarten teacher in 1991. After her children were born, she remained at home with them for a number of years, while also teaching part-time for Martin Community College.

In 1999, she began working for the Washington County Even Start Family Literacy Program, first as a Job Coach, and then as Adult Educator and Parenting Coordinator for 12 years until funding for the program ended in 2011. At that time, she returned to Pines Elementary, before joining Martin County Schools as a teacher at Jamesville Elementary School, where she remained for four years. She returned to East Carolina University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Library Science in December 2017. She served as Media Coordinator at Edna Andrews Elementary School in Hamilton for a year and was encouraged to return home to fill a position at Pines Elementary School that had been vacant for some time. There, she served as School Library Media Coordinator from August 2017 until August 2021. Mrs. Moricle has her certification in both school and public libraries.

Mrs. Moricle was excited to join the NERSBA Early College in August 2021, where she currently teaches Freshman English and newly-added Freshman Success/Executive Function courses. She enjoys her work and helping students. She describes her work as somewhat challenging, but most especially, very rewarding!

Mrs. Moricle loves spending most of her time with her husband at their homes. They divide their time, staying in Plymouth when the weather is colder and at their place on the Albemarle Sound when the weather is warmer. It is there, on the water, that they get to witness the most beautiful sunsets ever! She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She is the proud mother of two children-a son and daughter, and grandmother to her precious two year-old grandaughter.
