Mrs. Connie S. Smith

Hello, my name is Mrs. Smith.  I am a resident of Washington County.  After graduating from Plymouth High School, I attended North Carolina State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. I graduated in May 2020 from East Carolina University with a Masters in Secondary Mathematics Education. My certification is in secondary mathematics.  Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, AFM, Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, College Success in Math, Math 4, and Integrated Math 4 are the courses that I have taught. I am responsible for the math team at NERSBA and helping with the National Honor Society at NERSBA.

I currently reside in Washington County with my husband and children. My husband is one of the magistrates in Washington County and works as a paramedic for a transport company, Bertie Ambulance Service. My oldest daughter is married with a little girl and little boy and teaches in an elementary school. She is in college seeking a master's degree in elementary education from Liberty University. My son graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in computer science and works for Capital One while working on the online computer science master's program at Standford University. And my youngest two daughters are in high school.

I am happy to be part of the family at NERSBA and hope to encourage many students to think outside of the box.  My students currently work in groups with set roles that change weekly.  They very quickly get used to presenting in front of the class.  We do not have a traditional math class since we learn using the Core Plus Curriculum.
