Mrs. Connie Smith is a resident of Washington County.  After graduating from Plymouth High School, she attended North Carolina State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. She graduated in May 2020 from East Carolina University with a Masters in Secondary Mathematics Education. Her certification is in secondary mathematics.  Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, AFM, Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, College Success in Math, Math 4, and Integrated Math 4 are the courses that she has taught. She is responsible for the math team at NERSBA.

She currently resides in Washington County with her husband and children. Her husband is one of the magistrates in Washington County and works part time for Innerbanks Medical Transport. Her oldest daughter is married with a little girl and a little boy. Her son graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in computer science and works for Capital One while attending the online computer science master's program through Standford University. Her youngest daughter is in high school, while her next to the youngest graduates high school in May 2023.

She is happy to be part of the family at NERSBA and hopes to encourage many students to think outside of the box.  Her students currently work in groups with set roles that change weekly.  They quickly get used to presenting in front of the class.  She does not have a traditional math class since her students learn through inquiry based learning.
